Once you put a stop to your bad habits you will find that your guitar playing will increase. Additionally, you
will become more pleased and happy with the performances that you produce when in front of other people. These are
just a few of the reasons why you should avoid the bad habits herein.
Bad Habit #1: Not Being In Tune!
Many guitar players make the mistake of not tuning their guitar each time they use it. The very first thing you
should do each and every time you sit down to play the guitar is to tune it. If you do not tune your guitar on a
regular basis you will begin to play with an out of tune guitar and the sounds will become so normal to you that
you will assume that your guitar is in tune.
If you suffer from this bad habit you must immediately put a stop to it! You can do this by tuning your guitar
prior to playing it at any point and time.
Bad Habit #2: Long Fingernails!
According to what type of guitar you play you should keep your fingernails neat and trimmed! This is specific to
the hand that will be controlling the strings. If your fingernails are not kept short it will be harder for you to
control the strings and you will start producing notes that do not sound good.? It is of the utmost importance to
always keep your nails short and trimmed!
Bad Habit #3: Slouching or Not Using a Strap!
When you play the guitar sitting down or standing up your should always use proper posture. In fact, you will
play much better if you are standing up straight. Additionally, you should play with a guitar strap in order to
provide you with more comfort when you are playing. This will also forbid you from falling into bad positioning
when you are playing the guitar. Therefore, you should never fall into the habit of playing the guitar without the
use of the strap and assuming proper posture.
Bad Habit #4: Not Practicing!
You know the saying 'practice makes perfect'. This saying is very true and appropriate when it comes to the
guitar. No matter your skill level you should make practicing the guitar a top priority. There should not be a day
or week that goes by wherein you do not practice for a few hours.
The more you practice the more you will get out of it. If you fail to practice or put off practicing playing the
guitar, like it is a chore, your music playing skills will slowly but surely begin to fade.
